Girls, Girls, and More Girls!

November 25, 2014 by Brielle

Once again, it has been way too long since I have posted about my cute family.

Yes, my family is cute. I’m not too bashful to admit it. It’s only because my two girls make up 100% of our family’s cuteness that I am allowed to say it. We’re all supposed to be blindly in awe of our own children, right? Right!

Sisters

Well these munchkins are the two most adorable, mischievous, hilarious whipper snappers you will ever meet. I do admit that half the day I am probably raising my voice (ah heck, I am probably yelling), but I’m hoping that beneath all of my frustrated tones of voice, they know that I love them. Life would not be the same without these little rugrats.

So if you would like to continue reading on, I will be updating our life from the past few months and probably be bragging and boasting about my children. And here it goes:

FALL BREAK:
Our school district has a 2 1/2 week fall break which is absolutely amazing! It’s nice to be able to pack up mid-year and take a trip when the rest of the country is still in school. No surprise here, but we headed up north to Utah. We had a blast visiting granparents, going to museums, making crafts, and causing trouble.

Gardner Village (Copy)Gardner Village with Grandma Kaye. We all dressed up in witch costumes while we enjoyed peeking into all the specialty shops.

Thanksgiving Point (Copy)Thanksgiving Point with Grandma Melene running through fields of flowers, having impromptu photo shoots, and riding ponies.

Snowbird (Copy)Snowbird Lodge with Grandpa Randy’s finance company, being wined and dined as we enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

Wheeler Farm (Copy)Wheeler Farm with the Gundersens, riding barrel trains and scouting out all of the farm animals. Are bunnies “farm animals”? I don’t know…

HALLOWEEN:
How in the world could I not post about Halloween with all its cuteness?! We had such a grand time between school parties, church Trunk or Treating, and good old fashioned neighborhood Trick or Treating. I think we still have a half gallon sized Ziploc bag of candy in our pantry waiting to be eaten. I’m very confident it may still be there by next year.

my girls (Copy)Both my girls were Elsa for Halloween. Shocker, right? I’m never one to plan for Halloween, or spend much money on coordinating costumes.

Here is my costume approach for the big day: It’s Halloween! Go upstairs and pick an outfit from your dress up bin.

See, easy peasy…until Frozen came along. How is it that my 2 1/2 year old that has the vocabulary of an 18 month old can find a way to perfectly communicate to me that she would like to be Elsa for Halloween? And when your 2 1/2 year old with a limited vocabulary asks for Elsa, you get her Elsa even if it is 4:00 the day of Halloween.

Braelyn (Copy) Emry (Copy)We stumbled into Target and immediately spotted these Elsa nightgowns. Through squeals of delight from both of my children, we tried them on and they fit like a charm. Braelyn just had to be Elsa, too. Apparently, the costume bin wasn’t cutting it for either girl.

I’ll admit, these costumes were a steal. Buy one, get one half off! But regardless of the cost, you couldn’t put a price on the amount of delight my beauties got from strolling the neighborhood as their favorite princess. Best part was, they went right to bed after trick or treating. Costume pj’s are the best!

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER:
People, fall has arrived here in Gilbert, AZ! You don’t even understand the excitement. I have waited for this day for far too long; about 7 months to be exact, when this beautiful weather decided to abandon us and leave us to fry in a merciless oven. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be spending time outside again. It is so refreshing!

Running ClubBraelyn joined the running club at school. I was so proud that she wanted to be a part of something that I love. The first day out there, she was so ecstatic. She stretched, she warmed up, she ran…and then she cried. She finished that first lap, grabbing her throat, in tears screaming, “It’s so hard!!!” But alas, with mommy, sister, and some Kidz Bop music playing from my jogging stroller, we finished the remaining laps hand in hand. Such cuteness!

Bikes (Copy)I love our neighborhood! There are always kids out playing and roaming the streets…in a good way, like that hometown feel, not that creepy “where are these kids’ parents???” kind of way. My kids switch off between riding scooters, bikes, big wheels, and good old flashy Power Wheels. We love our evenings!

DSC_0098 (Copy) (2) rodeo fun (Copy)We headed to our church’s rodeo this past weekend and it was a blast! This will definitely be a yearly tradition. We had the best pulled pork sandwiches, rode ponies, watched poor little kids being trampled by some crazy sheep, and entered TWO pies in a pie baking contest. Yep, tis the season for family and friends, even if they do smell like cow poop.

temple (Copy)And thus it is, our little recap of activities and family adventures. There has been a lot to sum up over the past few months. I haven’t even touched on Ben and my Cancun trip, my grandfather’s passing away, Braelyn being selected to move up into an advanced kindergarten class (Remember, she is already a grade ahead. She doesn’t even turn 5 until December!) and her crazy impressive reading skills, Emry finally learning how to talk, and a whole bunch of other life events.

All I can say is that I am truly grateful for this amazing little family of mine. I have two sweet girls that love being sisters and an amazing husband that supports us physically, financially, and emotionally. There is not much else I could ask for in life. When I really stop and think about it, I realize how truly blessed I am to be living in this world with such wonderful people by my side.

Til next family post!
